CFISD music staff and programs shine at summer conferences

Aug. 12, 2025—Multiple CFISD music staff and programs were highlighted and received recognition at multiple summer music conferences.

Chris Fiorini, Bridgeland High School choir director, received the Choral Excellence Award from the Texas Choral Director’s Association (TCDA) for his contributions to choral activity over the course of his career. Additionally, T.J. Peterman, Cypress Woods High School director of bands, officially received his Outstanding Young Bandmaster of the Year award from Phi Beta Mu after being named this year’s recipient in February.

The Bridgeland High School band program gave four clinic sessions at the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA) Convention ranging from percussion techniques, marching band playing and marching band program processes. The presentations were led by Bridgeland band directors Shawn McAnear, Brent Marquart, Bailee Moore, Chris Nguyen and Joel McAda.

CFISD was also represented by the following music staff members as clinic presenters for their music peers across the state:

  • Alex Bruce, Cypress Creek High School choir director
  • Bradley Acree, Kahla Middle School choir director
  • Chris Fiorini, Bridgeland choir director
  • Aubrey Erickson, Bridgeland choir director

Rachel Fiorini, Cypress Creek choir director, also serves as the TCDA vice president for special projects and public relations.

“We are certainly proud to see the very talented staff and students of CFISD appearing at their state summer music conferences as clinic session providers for their peers,” said John Morrison, director of fine arts. “It’s also especially rewarding to see Mr. Fiorini and Mr. Peterman bringing back these very special awards.”
